Our mission: The Georgetown kennels is a small hobby kennels with only a few dogs. We are having usually one litter a year and dealing with in house growed dogs. Our main mission is hobby breeding according to the breed standard' values and properties, and to eliminate the incorrect pre-conceptions against the breed on a positive manner. From 1995, we have breeded 12 litters, from which puppies have reached outstanding placement on the dog shows, works and the owner's heart as well.
Our Strategy: Fortunatelly,
our activity in the dog's world was always "only" on hobby level, because
our occupations and carrier is not tied to the "dog business" at all. So
we was able to eliminate the impact of the customers into our breeding
programm, what fenomenon can be seen at other "breeders". For example:
the choosing of the studs by colors, or choosing the actually "favourite
by everybody" studs or even worse choosen by only the "show results"....
In our oppinion, big kennels can be managed at a high quality level only
at "full time work", which means that must be profitable and selable from
financial point of view. This cause the lost of the breeder's freedom in
the decisions, lost of the ability to make right decisions, because the
personal welfare depends on the success of selling the litters or covering
with their males. Simply says He/She will become the slave of the market
demands. During the increasement must be satisfy the demands or develop
new markets (there are several tools to support it: marketing, advertisement,
relationship,...), otherwise the venture will go bankrupt as a company
at the end of it's lifecycle... The strategy of these "professional kennels"
improved so far, that they build strong relationship with several judges,
which under their control (by financially or by connections). So these
"breeders" can infliuence the show results based on their interest. So
from now onwards, the meanning is, who showing the dog, not, which dog
is it. We can determine before the show the result based on the catalog.....
That's why we have seen many quickly shining and quickly
dissappearing "falling stars" in the short duration of hungarian Amstaff'
breeding history and paralelly we saw the continous degregation of the
quality of the hungarian AMSTAFFs..
Thanks for this early recognization and the financial
independence, we were able to keep the distance from the "actually fashionable"
bloodlines and stud males in Hungary, and keep our original ideas during
our breedings to increase the quality of the breed.

Our Tactics: In our oppinion the basics of the good kennels are the females. A female puppy receiving it's genes (X-X) 50-50% from it' parents. A male puppy (X-Y) receiving it's "Y" part from it's father and "X" part from the mother. Meanwhile the "X" contains more information than the "Y" chromosomes, so the more inheritage comes from the females! So we are totally disagree the ads with only the father, because the mother at least so importants! Our females and males are nowadays mainly housebreeded from our kennels, as if a breeder doesn't trust his/her own dogs, how could be expecting this trust from his/her puppy's owner? We are totally disagree the paarings based on colors, and puppy choosing based on colors, because the fashion of color is changing every 5-10 years, and the color is independent from the puppy's body structure and it's nervous type. We think lots of non conform puppy caused by the wrong selection criterias, and causing a lots of dog selling when they growed up.
On the other hand we don't believe in the "breeding with the actual favourite male" fenomenon (based on miss-preconception: "from two excellent dogs can come only excellent puppies"). Because it's does not contains any preliminary planning of the improvement for any feature, so it's only for propagation/ puppy mills and not breeding. To use the above mentioned tactics and startegy also helped us to avoid the previously mentioned usual "EUROPEAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER" lines, which are far away from the breed standard descriptions.
Our oppinions: Our oppinion as the nowadays "internet/ social based" (Facebook; Who's-Who's, etc..) breeders society are not able to improve the breed. From one side all people, who is an owning any dog, suddenly became "EXPERTS" and "BREEDERS",while they missing the necessery practical experiences. From other side the remarks, which served the continous improvement dissappeared, and now only " If I admit Your dog, You will admit mine" type of remarks remained. Our kenel mainly not participating in the forums, as per the added value to improve the genetical background of the breed =0. That's why they are serving only marketing purposes for the puppy mills, whos living standards depends on the sales. Unfortunatelly the participants not capable to judge undependently, because of the emotional/ friendship pre-conceptions. The pictures based puppy/ paaring mates selection is not serves the breed' interest.
Our only possibility for the breed improvement, to see the failures/ good features in the present generation, and impove/ fix with the correct paar selection in the next generation. To use selectioning/ in-out breeding as it required the only tools till the genes manipulations /clonings not reach the level to eliminate the breeders...
